tomica.toys is a free, unofficial Tomica reference site. This policy explains — in plain language — what information is collected when you use it, what advertising partners may do, how to opt out of personalised advertising, and where the model data on the site comes from.
1. The short version
- There are no user accounts and no login. We do not ask for your name, email or address.
- Your collection checklist is saved in your own browser only. It is never uploaded.
- We are funded by advertising, and advertising partners may use cookies. You can opt out — see section 5.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
2. Information we do not collect
- No registration, no profile, no email newsletter list.
- No public comments, forum or chat, so visitors cannot post personal information publicly.
- No payment processing — we do not sell anything directly.
- No deliberate behavioural profiling of children.
3. Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, our hosting and analytics providers receive standard technical information when your browser requests a page: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, and the page requested. This is used to serve the site, to keep it secure and to understand in aggregate which pages are useful. We do not combine it with anything you have told us, because you have told us nothing.
4. What is stored on your device
- Your collection list — the Tomica you tick in the collection checklist is stored in your browser's localStorage. It stays on your device unless you choose to share it. Clearing your browser data removes it.
- Collection codes — the share code is a compact list of model numbers. It contains no name, email or other personal detail, and we never receive it.
- Share images — generated on your device by your own browser. We do not upload or keep them.
- Preferences — series or filter choices you make in the tools may be remembered locally so the page looks the same next time.
5. Cookies, Google AdSense and Adsterra
The site is free to use and is funded by advertising. We intend to display ads through Google AdSense and Adsterra. These third-party advertising networks may set and read cookies or similar technologies (including web beacons and device identifiers) in order to serve ads, to limit how often you see the same ad, and to measure ad performance.
Google's use of advertising cookies. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of the DoubleClick DART cookie enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Google may collect and use information about your interests in order to show you personalised advertising.
How to opt out of personalised advertising. You have several options, and all of them are free:
- Visit Google Ads Settings and turn personalised ads off (this applies to the browser and device you are using, and to Google-served ads).
- Use the industry opt-out tools at aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU/UK).
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or browse in a private window.
- Send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal or enable “Do Not Track” — we treat these as an opt-out request for advertising personalisation on this site.
Opting out does not remove advertising; it means the ads you see will be less relevant and may be repeated more often. The site and all collecting tools continue to work with cookies disabled.
Adsterra is a separate advertising network and may use its own cookies and similar technologies under its own privacy policy. You can opt out of interest-based advertising from networks participating in the same industry programmes using the links above.
For more detail on how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
6. Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics to count page views and to see which model pages people actually use. These tools measure traffic in aggregate. We do not use analytics to build individual profiles, and we do not sell analytics data.
7. Outbound and affiliate links
Some links to marketplaces are affiliate links and are marked sponsored. If you buy through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Once you leave tomica.toys, the destination site's own privacy policy applies and we have no control over it.
8. Children's privacy
Tomica is a children's product, so many visitors are children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, we do not run advertising that knowingly targets children with personalised ads, and we do not operate any feature that invites a child to submit personal information. Parents or guardians who believe a child has submitted personal information to us should email service@tomica.toys and we will delete it promptly.
9. Where the model data comes from
This is worth stating separately: the “data” on this site is published reference data about die-cast models, not data about you. It is compiled by hand from public sources — Takara Tomy's own product pages, community databases and wikis, retailer and hobby shop listings, and public vehicle references — then cross-checked. Each model page cites the sources used for it. Photography is freely licensed imagery of the real vehicles, credited with author and licence under the terms of the source licence. We do not copy manufacturer product photography and we do not reuse other sites' text.
If a listed fact is wrong, or if you own rights in something published here, email service@tomica.toys — see the about page and the DMCA & image credits page.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing (for example under the GDPR in the EEA/UK, or the CCPA/CPRA in California). Because we hold no account data, in practice there is nothing for us to export or delete beyond what is stored in your own browser. If you believe we hold something about you, email service@tomica.toys and we will respond and, where applicable, remove it.
11. Data retention and security
We keep no user database. Server logs, where they exist, are retained only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting and are not used to identify individual visitors.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy — for example when advertising is switched on — we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes will be highlighted on the page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
13. Contact
Written enquiries can be sent to service@tomica.toys. Please include the page URL if your question is about a specific page. See also the contact page, the Terms of Service and the Disclaimer.
